Each relationship that
Emercy forms with missionaries is unique and tailor-fit
to the needs of the missionary. Some simply need
assistance on occasional projects, while other require
the full
gamut of services and support. Reaching natives that
speak an unknown language and starting an inner-city
youth program obviously have their own specific needs.
If you are a missionary in need of support, contact
Emercy today. We can help.

The Missionary Job Board (www.missionaryjobs.com)
is offered as a job placement service. It serves
in two directions: finding work for missionaries,
and finding workers to fill needed missions positions.
Over the past two years, it has serviced workers
in over 20 countries and 6 continents. The latest
version of the Missionary Job Board was launched
in May 2003 and offers more advanced search features
and unique user accounts, allowing repeat visitors
to store job search preferences and to have recruiters
find them by job preferences. So the next time you
need an English teacher who speaks Vietnamese to
teach in Southeast Asia, try posting your needs on
the job board. Currently it allows visitors to search
by region and ministry type. More search options
will be available as the job board grows in size.

The Online MRC, www.missionaryresources.org,
is a website provided by Emercy as a tool for missionaries
to find quick answers to common questions as well
as research more in-depth subjects such as renewable
energy or church planting resources. The online MRC
is provided as a supplement to Emercy's Missionary
Resources Handbook that is scheduled for release
in Fall 2003.
As Emercy provides missionaries with consulting
support through its A2M project, we encounter many
questions and issues raised that seem to be widely
requested topics. For this reason, we catalog and
store all of our common support issues in our website
so that others can benefit from these research projects.
Common issues include: shipping and freight, finances,
renewable energy, drama techniques, ministry tools,
language acquisition, and more.

The Handbook is scheduled for release in Fall 2003.
Its primary purpose will be as a mirror to the
hugely popular online resoruce center: www.missionaryresources.org.
The handbook will cover all of the topics listed
in
the website, and it will provide greater flexibility
for missionaries with limited internet access,
serving as a field manual for many day-to-day missionary
needs.

Each year, Emercy partners with Palmas de Mamre in Costa Rica to offer a missionary
training school (www.missionarytraining.net). Currently
the schools are limited to 20 students and last for 2 months. Attendees will
learn how to teach, preach, perform medical care, plant churches, and much
more. Visit the website for more details.

Emercy operates a resources warehouse to store goods, sort them, and ship
them to areas in need. Each year Emercy operates a fundraiser garage sale
and sends the remaining clothes to the warehouse, where they are shipped
to the needy all over the world. Missionaries with an EmercyCARD can request a free tour and take any goods they
wish, free of charge. Common goods include medicines, tracts, videos, Bibles,
and communications equipment.
Due to the technology differences between the
US and third world countries, there are many items
that become obsolete in the US and are still highly
valued in other countries. Emercy seeks these items
out and stores them in its warehouse until it can
find the need on the missions field. It's not always
technology that causes items to be donated. Many
goods such as guitars, radios, medical supplies
(i.e. casts and knee braces), flashlights, lamps,
duffel bags, etc. are commonly passing through
the warehouse. We plan to soon post a
listing of commonly needed items on the mission
field that you can donate to the warehouse.

Located in the heart of Costa Rica's exuberant Brunca region, an area National Geographic describes as “the most biologically diverse place on earth,” The Missionary Retreat Center is one of the most exciting projects that Emercy has taken on. With its panoramic vistas of Central America's highest mountains, pristine jungle hikes to huge waterfalls, easy access to world class surfing, fishing, and hang gliding, The ranch is an Eco/adventure tourist's dream come true. It is our vision that providing economical, world-class vacation and educational opportunities to God's people in North America for a limited part of the year will provide the income required to support other ministries year round.
The goal of the Missionary Retreat Center is not only to provide a place of refreshment and revitalization for missionaries, but to be a blessing to the local communities and to share Jesus through local community programs and outreaches.
Currently, Emercy plans to use the Retreat Center during the summer months for tourism, and to use it during its vacant times and off seasons as a free retreat for ministers and missionaries.
More information along with a new website will be available by February 2004. Below are a few photos of the retreat center.
